Description:
This 1969 Austrian 50 Schilling silver coin was issued to commemorate the **450th Anniversary of Emperor Maximilian I’s Death (1519–1969)**. Known as “The Last Knight,” Maximilian I (1459–1519) was one of the most influential rulers of the late Middle Ages, remembered for expanding the Habsburg Empire and strengthening Austria’s cultural and political foundation.

The obverse features a right-facing bust of Emperor Maximilian I in Renaissance attire, designed by **Hans Lauda**. The reverse shows the **Austrian provincial shields** arranged around the denomination “50 Schilling,” symbolizing the unity and heritage of the Austrian Republic.
