Description

This is an original 1952 East Germany (DDR) 5 Pfennig coin featuring the classic hammer and compass design surrounded by sheaves of grain — a powerful symbol of labor, science, and agriculture from early postwar East Germany.
It comes from my grandfather’s collection — he was an antique dealer in Austria.

Minted from aluminum-bronze, this coin was among the first issues of the Deutsche Demokratische Republik after World War II, making it an important piece of Cold War history.

A great collectible for those interested in European, socialist-era, or historical German coinage.
