About the Photo

This image is one of many being offered of the Chicago Bears and their opponents from the 1994 and 1995 NFL seasons. The images include dynamic action shots on the field as well as close-up sideline moments, capturing the intensity and personality of the team during this era. From hard-hitting defensive plays to key offensive moments, these photographs showcase the grit and determination that defined the Bears of the mid-1990s.

During these seasons, the Bears were in a transitional period under head coach Dave Wannstedt. While the team faced challenges, they remained a hard-nosed, competitive squad. These photographs offer a vivid window into the team’s energy, style, and spirit during the 1994 and 1995 campaigns, making them a must-have for collectors and fans of Bears history.

About the Photographer

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Barry was studying fine art in college when he was drafted into the U.S. Air Force in 1969, serving three years during the Vietnam War. Returning home without his scholarship and with few resources, he began assisting in a commercial photography studio, where a chance opportunity to photograph the St. Louis Cardinals in 1973 launched a five-decade career.

He opened his first studio in St. Louis in 1974, later expanding to Chicago and New York. His fashion photography featured icons like Cindy Crawford and Jennifer Beals in Vogue, Town & Country, and Rolling Stone. He also worked with Nike and Gatorade, creating celebrated sports images for Sports Illustrated and Time.

During the Chicago Bulls’ championship era, Barry photographed Michael Jordan and the Bulls, leading to his New York Times best-selling photo book in 1998.

For Barry, photography was a way to sculpt with light—a creative vision that carried him from humble beginnings to international recognition.
