This is a woven 100% wool Aztec Indian Poncho from Ralph Lauren Country (or Polo Country). This poncho was made in Great Britain during the early days of Polo.

Ralph Lauren Country and Polo Country were the high end lines of Polo in those days, and the quality of this poncho is unsurpassed. Ralph Lauren no longer makes Indian weave jackets or ponchos of this quality, and items like this are becoming very hard to find. 

This poncho is a soft factory-brushed wool on the outside, and woven wool on the inside. It has red embroidered trim on all of the edges. The wool is in perfect, flawless condition and is thick and warm all over, with no spots, stains, holes or any sign of wear. The poncho has large Concho buttons with long, soft, and smooth leather ties. A few of the red embroidery stitches along the bottom are slightly irregular and are shown in the close up pictures, where you can see that they are barely noticeable. These are structurally sound and will stay in place. This poncho is newly dry cleaned and ready to wear.

Part of the tag has been cut out, but having sold many of these vintage Ralph Lauren items, I can verify that it is either a Ralph Lauren Country or Polo Country tag. In addition, this particular wool fabric has been used in other vintage Ralph Lauren Country jackets.  

 

Measurements: Width  with poncho laid flat is  50.5", length with poncho laid flat and folder in half is 32.5" from shoulder to bottom
