An antique panoramic colour photograph of Constantinople (Istanbul), dating from the very early years of the 20th century or even late 19th century, due to the style of shipping being a mixture of steam and sail, and the absence of motorised vehicles on both bridges. Believed from the printed title ('Panorama de Constantinople G.F.') to be the product of the Gulmez Frères photographic studio, which is known to have operated in Constantinople around the turn of the 19th/20th century. An unusual coloured image produced by the photochrome process. Very rare and historic photograph printed on two long rolls of heavy matte paper, joined in middle, in very good condition for its age. Size of scroll: 60 x 9 5/8 ins/153 x 24.5 cms; size of image: 55 3/4 x 7 5/8 ins/141.5 x 19.5 cms.
