We Treat You Like Royalty!!!

This is a Dazzling and Highly Ornate Two-Color Vintage Jewel from the Illustrious Spiritual-Military Order of "The Knights Of Pythias". Made sometime in the late 19th to earlier 20th Centuries, the backside is stamped with the Supreme Lodge copyright Year of 1874! It measures approximately 3 ¼ x 2 ½ inches and is in very good vintage condition. Everything is intact and clear, including the pin on the reverse side. THIS WONDERFUL JEWEL GLISTENS! Just like the Masonic Knights Templar, many of the early Pythian Knights were heroic veterans of the war between the states. They prayed for the Civil War to end and for a true human brotherhood to prevail. They also hoped that never again should another such war occur. The letters "F, C, B", which appear so prominently on this gorgeous triangular jewel stands for "Friendship, Charity, Benevolence", the great ideal for all Pythian Knights. Our Jewel dates back to sometime after the Civil War. The backside carries a copyright dated of 1874. However this Jewel could be from the 1880's or 1890's or a bit later. Hard to tell exactly. But it is a genuine antique. It incorporates both silver and gold tone colors. We are not jewelers and have no idea about either the silver or gold content of this Jewel. We do not have the time to have unmarked pieces tested. In many of the old catalogs, similar unmarked pieces have been described as containing gold and silver. But if this piece is gold and silver plated or if it is a really nice silver and gold colored metal of some type, we cannot say. Irregardless, this is a high class little treasure.. It is a creation of the high quality workmanship. We regularly feature extremely attractive and also very rare, top quality antiques including among the finest in Fraternal and Masonic Swords and Historic Relics &  Artifacts as well as many other fascinating items. Among our clients are Museums and Archives as well as many collectors the world over. Please keep checking our Classicliterati auctions. FREE SHIPPING IN USA. THE KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS

The Illustrious Order of the "Knights of Pythias" were, historically speaking, a significant development from Freemasonry. While NOT a Masonic organization in any way, they were nonetheless, they evolved from and were inspired by Freemasonry. Therefore they were a part of Masonic cultural as well as artistic history. The Order was founded during the Civil War in 1864 by a prominent Freemason named Justus H. Rathbone. It is noteworthy that virtually most early Pythian leaders were also active Freemasons. And most were Civil War veterans. Oddly enough, as the membership gradually grew in numbers, a gentle rivalry developed between the "Knights of Pythias" and the "Freemasons". As the periodic animosities subsided, it was quite common, as was more frequently the case with the "Odd Fellows", that members belonged to the Masonic Order as well. The "Knights of Pythias" remained somewhat open in their use of ritual, and unlike the more secretive and ritually Masonic-like "Odd Fellows", they were less involved with esoteric arts and mystical studies. The principles that comprised the basis of the "Knights of Pythias" originated with the ancient Greek Pythagorean Morality Legend of the Friendship between Damon and Pythias. Borrowing some of their humanistic ideals from Masonic Philosophy and Tradition, the Knights went on to become an International Order that has been active in Philanthropy and in Humanitarian-Oriented Philosophy. They had also established a large Military Branch, known as the "Uniform Ranks, Knights of Pythias". In olden days, during parades, one could marvel at the spectacle of these Majestic Looking Troops marching down the pathway, all dressed up in their Theatrical Uniforms with these Glistening Triangular Knight's Medals, dangling from their Coats, and with Heavily Ornate Swords at their sides. All this activity began with the Horrors of the Civil War. President Abraham Lincoln was an early supporter of the Knights, as he realized that their ritual was symbolic of all the Highest, Most Desirable Ideals. Subsequently. the "Knights of Pythias" became the First American Order to be Chartered by an Act of Congress. Peace through Understanding is their Motto.
