This is a beautiful antique liturgical cope, likely dating from the early to mid-20th century. The vestment is crafted from a cream or gold-colored silk brocade fabric with a subtle woven pattern. A prominent Y-shaped orphrey (band) runs down the back, featuring a detailed, hand-embroidered depiction of the Virgin Mary. The embroidery shows Mary standing on a crescent moon, holding a heart, a common Marian motif. The cope is an ecclesiastical vestment worn by clergy for liturgical functions outside of Mass.
