Vintage/Antique Saccharometer in wood case, engraved on front of wood case with a crown makers mark, the number “5531”, and “C&E”
Based on the Crown Mark, it was most likely made in England, but could possibly be from America or another Country. 
It it most likely from the Victorian or Edwardian Eras. 
Saccharometers are a type of hydrometer that is used to specifically measure how much sugar is in a solution. 
Note that there is a piece missing as there is a slot with nothing in it, I am unsure of what the piece is that is missing.
