Measures aprox 6 1/4" x 4 3/4" 3/8" and weighs 300 grams and has a wonderful patina. This was most likely part of a larger piece at one point, there are two mounting holes on the bottom and an opening at the top of the candlestick.
The motif features two stylized dolphins (or fish-like sea creatures) facing a central candlestick stem, with floral roundels at the bottom. This kind of imagery is very tyical of Victorian-era decorative arts and carried over into the early 20th century revival styles. Dolphins were a common neoclassical motif, symbolizing protection and good luck at sea.
