Virginiie Jamin for Hermès
2007
The scarf was designed by Virginie Jamin and first released in Spring/Summer 2007. It marked a captivating entry, as she skilfully transformed what initially resembles a Mexican rug pattern into a lively scene of dancers. At first glance, the design appears as a series of multicolored circles, but on closer inspection, they reveal themselves to be twirling Mexican dancers, their motion implied through the swirling forms of their skirts.
The artwork is a delightful “bird's-eye view” of a Mexican fiesta, capturing the dynamic swirl of dancers’ dresses from above—each circle a joyful moment of motion and color.
Described by Hermès specialists as a collectible, statement-making scarf, “Belles du Mexique” vividly evokes images of “the beautiful dancing ladies of Mexico”—highlighting both its cultural nod and its artistic craftsmanship
