Sometimes the best design is the simplest. Now available in Black, the B&M Z-Gate shifter is a great example of that. It has the fewest moving parts of any automatic shifter in the B&M line and its patented internal "Z" shaped gate eliminates the possibility of over-shifting or missing gears. It has many of the same great features of higher priced shifters, and a PVD (physical vapor deposition) aka thin-film coating. It also includes a neutral safety switch, backup light switch, black T-Handle and fits most popular 3-speed and some 4-speed automatic transmission applications. The Reverse lockout meets NHRA and IHRA requirements.
Summary: Using this in my 31 Model A roadster to help create a old school vibe. Looks great and is easy to install.
Yes, I recommend this product.
Summary: The shifter worked out great in my car. Matched the interior as great as it performs.
Yes, I recommend this product.
Summary: It's a nice looking assembly that's a fairly easy install. The hardest part is trying to tighten the nuts between the transmission and the floor of the car. One issue I found was the alignment of the cable to the provided bell-crank which has a jog in it. After I flattened it, it was more inline with the cable. Another issue is the undersized adjustment pin that goes into the bell-crank along with an undersized cotter pin. If the adjustment pin was the right length, you could install the right sized cotter pin with a washer. I'm currently sourcing the correct pin. Operationally, it seems to be designed more for a track car and not a street daily driver. It's clunky and noisy, however it does work. Perhaps the higher priced shifters provide better operation. Application: 69 Pontiac Firebird 400 with TH400
Summary: Shifter works great. I like how it locks out the next gear. Best Shifter for the money.
