Up for sale is a hard copy paper ticket from Shohei Ohtani’s record breaking performance when the LA Dodgers visited the Miami Marlins on 9-19-2024. The Dodgers won 20-4! Ohtani became the inaugural 50/50 club member, and hit 6-6 with 3 HRs, 2 doubles, 2 SBs, and 10 RBIs! 

Most of the tickets for resale are marked $25 because they were purchased by fans after the fact.

After Shohei’s 50 HR, fans exited the ball park en masse to purchase these tickets at the box office.

In fact, these tickets were still sold by LoanDepot Park for at least the next day after the game took place!

How is this possible?

While only some 17,000 fans were in attendance for the record breaking game, LoanDepot Park has a 37,000 seating capacity, so many of these seats were empty and tickets unsold.

The $25 tickets that were sold as souvenirs to fans were for seats in the upper 300 sections which were not even open that day. (If you look to buy tickets this year for a Marlins game you will see that there is no option to purchase tickets in these sections.)

THIS ticket was for a seat located in section 22, along the 3rd base side (see last pic). It is marked as a reprint because the attendee purchased a digital ticket and then requested a hard copy to be printed at the box office.

It is rare these days to have a paper ticket unless you walk up to the box office to purchase tickets on game day. Most people purchase tickets before they get to the stadium, obtaining them online, on reseller sites, or on the MLB app, and have no actual hard copies.  At best they receive a PDF to print out.  There are only rare exceptions such as with large group sales with WILL CALL pick up. 

It wasn't really expected that Ohtani would get to 50/50 that night because he was still 2 homers and 1 stolen base away, so people weren't pre-purchasing tickets in anticipation of a record breaking night.  Most people who attended the game likely had no hard copy ticket, making this item that much rarer as the seat for this ticket was actually utilized by a fan on that historic day.

Take a look on eBay. Most if not all of the tickets are of the $25 variety located in the 300 sections.

This ticket has been graded by Beckett as a MINT 9. In my opinion, Beckett authenticates and grades tickets very stringently, on par with PSA.
