Marc Chagall Russian born and an early modernist. Primarily inspired by his jewish roots. He worked in several mediums. He was recognized and identified as a cubist and a fauvist. A style pioneered by Matisse. It meant wild beast. The fauvist style broke all of the rule of the previous generation of artist and blurred the lines of what was considered modern. They did not follow traditional methods of art, instead expanded the artistic pallet and created in a wild brutal style.

Chagall enjoyed this image so much he kept it in his private collection. The original was done in 1958 with india ink on paper. This is a hand signed lithograph of the original image published in France.
