The fine item you are considering is an Antique Motorcycle Racing Photo Album Misawa Air Base Tachikawa Japan. This amazing photo album measures approximately 13” by 12” and contains 120 photos on its pages as well as another 37 photos loose in the back, some of which have obviously fallen out of their place in the album. Amazingly, the original owner has attached his motorcycle racing number cloth on the last page of the album. The album contains photos dated as early as 1959, but it looks like the vast majority of the photos and notations are documenting a series of motorcycle races held by the Chessman Motorcycle Club between 1960 and 1962 at Misawa Air Base in Tachikawa, Japan. In fact, there’s even a period newspaper clipping in the front of the album discussing the club and races. There are lots of notations on the pages around the photos, and lots of larger photos. The outer album shows wear in the corners but the pages and photos, with a very few exceptions, are overall in great condition. Rare as rare can be, and a fascinating bit of history documenting Americans racing motorcycles in Japan in the very early 1960’s. Please see my photos to have just a small look at a few of the many photos in this amazing album.
