This is a very rare engine and, in my opinion one of 3 or 4 Holy Grail steam engines to have in your model engine collection.
These engines are very difficult to build well and many builders don't get them running, so this one is a bit special in that regard.
Please read carefully:
1) The engine does run on air, needs a push !. Will need oiling etc. Due to the unique piston/valve design efficiencies could be made with graphite cord etc.
2) Two of the sliding keyway pins for the crank are a little bit loose. It's marginal, but the pin's taper means they fit well but don't get tight. A very minor job to remake a couple of pins if you feel it is important.
3) Could do with pipe work for the air in port.
4) There is no exhaust pipework under the engine/base even thought the base pipe exit implies there is.
The above points are what I know, there could be other points I don't know about, but hope I covered everything.
I do know this was built by an extremely good engineer who built several other extremely high quality engines,
including locomotives and stationary engines like this.
Base is 13" x 13" and engine has a 9" diameter flywheel.
The tiles on the base look to be ceramic or terracotta, etc, not 100% sure but not plastic and not a fake sheet !
I have owned this engine for almost 12 years and not seen another in running condition since. I am selling this knowing that I am unlikely to come across another.
