This is a super stainless steel show bit made by Toklat using Ron Myler's designs. This is a very lightly used bit in well maintained pre owned condition with minor surface wear on the shanks and very light rusting on the sweet iron mouthpiece. The swivel shanks measure 7-1/4 inches long with a 2-1/2 inch purchase for a 2.9 to 1 leverage ratio. The mouthpiece is Myler's MB33 mouthpiece and measures 5-1/4 inches wide by 3/8 diameter.
The low and wide barrel port sweet iron mouthpiece is shaped with a curved forward tip to perfectly fit your horse's mouth and provide tongue relief. This mouthpiece offers a variety of pressure points to take the horse as soft as possible. This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 ¼" high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. The 33 swivel barrel port is the mildest Myler mouthpiece in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass under the bit and swallow. The wide port applies little to no tongue pressure, working primarily off the bars, lips, chin and poll and the barrel mouthpiece assists in lifting each shoulder independently. Because the 33 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a trustworthy and consistent disposition, trained to work off the leg and seat as well as the hands. This mouthpiece has Independent Side Movement and features copper inlays to promote salivation and a responsive mouth.
This bit weighs 11.32 ounces so it is a very nice light bit and the mouthpiece is considered by Myler to be the mildest of the Level 3 bits for the following type of horse:
Horse considered broke or finished; willing to obey commands
Possesses advanced skills, works well off the seat, legs, and hands
Relaxed at the poll
