The mark visible at the bottom of the cup is “488” (a hand-painted pattern number) along with what looks like a small painter’s or decorator’s mark. There is no printed factory mark, which suggests this is early to mid-19th century English porcelain. This style of hand-painted botanical decoration with gilded rims and incised handles is very typical of Coalport porcelain (Shropshire, England). Coalport frequently used painted pattern numbers (like 488) without a factory stamp in the early 1800s, especially between 1820–1840. No critical damage to the items but of Course due to the age of the lot, discolouration and crazing is possible through all.
