Convert your models to the current recommended base size
with ease. Your existing model just pushes into the extender immediately
bringing it to the right base size for competitive play.
For those not familiar, a base extender is an accessory that
increases the size of your model's base to meet current gaming standards,
without requiring you to rebase or modify the original model.
All of my extenders have been tested on my own model
collection so I am confident that they will fit well but, even across my own
collection, there is some variance which is why I have 3 size variations to
choose from.
What do you get in each set?
Each standard set will be made up of 10/5/3 base extenders printed in black with all normal extenders. I have found this will fit most newer units absolutely fine.
Each mixed set will be made up of 10/5/3 base extenders printed in
black with 80% normal and 20% loose extenders. I have found this is the most
likely to fit older units that are made up of different generations of bases as my older units had 1-2 models per 10 that
were just a bit too tight to be comfortable for the normal fit extenders.
What do the sizes mean?
The extenders are made with three tolerance varieties:
normal; tight; and loose.
Normal is intended that your model will slot into the
extender with minimal force and the extender will stay in place without glue should
you wish to not permanently alter your model. In most cases there will be some lift,
and the model may be able to be rotated within the extender. Normal fit is
denoted with 2 notches on the inner rim which will be under the model once
fitted and not visible.
Loose is for models that are extremely delicate and your
model will slot into the extender with almost no force at all. The extender
will remain loose and may not stay in place without glue. These are also useful
if you have been “generous” with the paint when painting the rims of your base
(like I have in several cases!) giving a bit of extra tolerance for your model
to slot in. Loose fit is denoted with 1 notch on the inner rim which will be
under the model once fitted and not visible.
Tight is intended to snap onto your models base and not move
at all even without glue. There will be some force required but never more than
should be possible with fingers alone. These would also be appropriate if you
have 3rd party bases that come up a bit smaller than standard GW
bases. Tight fit is denoted with 3 notches on the inner rim which will be under
the model once fitted and not visible.
All of the extenders have been designed so that the depth it
is as close as possible to that of the original base so, once decorated, it
will be virtually impossible to tell that the model is on a base extender.
For information, in all the pictures my Necrons are in Normal
fit extenders although some were tighter than others due to paint on the rims. In
the video you can see the relative force and fit for each of the variants on a
standard Necron Warrior.
What kind of quality can I expect?
All the base extenders are printed at a 0.2mm layer depth
and so layer lines are extremely hard to see before painting and are invisible
once decorated.
The default colour of the extenders is black but there is a
custom colour option should you want to vary it. This might be useful if you
want to use your base extenders to separate units. Please message me when
ordering and specify one of the colours from the sample image and I can print
in that colour.
Can I have different combinations of size and fit?
Absolutely, I appreciate that not everyone has a nice, neat
number of identical models to convert as collections span years and editions. The
custom combination option allows you to specify which bases you want so that
you don’t get more than you need of any base size.
Like transport vehicles each combination is made up of 10
units, the sets which come in packs of 10 on their own count as 1 each, the
sets which come in packs of 5 on their own count as 2 each and the sets which
come in packs of 3 each count as 3.
For example, you can have: 4 x 25-32 normal and 1 x 25-32 tight
(1 each); 1 x 25-40 normal (2 each); and 1 x 32-50 normal (3 each).
Just include a note to seller when ordering or message me
using an eBay message to let me know what combination you want.
Sizing Issues / Returns
I have confidence that you will be extremely happy with your
base extenders as they have all been tested with my Necron collection for a
good fit. However, if you have any issue with model fit then they can be
returned and replaced with extenders with a higher tolerance or a refund at
your discretion.
