PEACE ON EARTH:

AN ANTI-WAR PLAY IN THREE ACTS

by

GEORGE SKLAR and ALBERT MALTZ

with a forward by SHERWOOD ANDERSON

New York: Samuel French

1934

First edition. An important Depression-era theatrical work,
produced by the Theatre Union in New York City in 1933.
It dramatizes the human cost of militarism and the struggle
for peace. Includes the original cast list, scene synopses, and
Anderson’s striking preface linking the play to the vitality of
working-class American life. Illustrated with a photogrpahic
plate of the production by Alfredo Valente.

A powerfusl piece of American social and theatrical history,
reflecting both leftist political currents of the 1930s and the
emergence of Albert Maltz, later one of the Hollywood Ten.

Softcover in original pictorial wraps remain bright and well-
preserved, with light toning and minor edge wear. Firmly
bound. Clean and unmarked aside from minimal ex-library
indications. A solid, attractive copy.

Very good plus.
