Japanese silver box, ca 1890. Rectangular with straight sides and hinged cover. On cover top and box sides in relief are iris flowers and tendrils in eddying water. Stippled ground. Box and cover interior lined with stained wood. Meiji-era Art Nouveau for the cosmopolitan West. Appears to be unmarked. Dimensions: H 2 5/8 x W 6 1/4 x D 4 in.
