Description: Eight cartoons all signed, two with additional inscriptions by the artist. All approximately 19 x 17 in. (image size) on 24 x 19 1/2 in. boards. Some overall soiling. Original cartoon artwork from this Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist. These eight while representative of his career remind us that not much has changed. His subjects were war, money in politics, government spying on individuals, expansionism, ever larger corporations, and the Chicago police. Fitzpatrick won the 1926 Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning for the cartoon, "The Laws of Moses and the Laws of Today" and for his June 8, 1954 cartoon "How Would Another Mistake Help?" about French and possible U.S. involvement in Indochina. The second Pulitzer was also awarded for his body of work. He retired in 1958 from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (1913-1958), his replacement was Bill Mauldin.
