Tank Prototype History:
The IV Tank Destroyer(Anti Tank Gun) Is One Of The Three Main Derivatives Developed Using The Chassis Of The Type 4 Tank. This Vehicle Series Was Used To Replace The Third Assault Gun, Which Violated The Expectations Of The Armored General Heinz Guderian. Guderian Believed That There Was No Need To Transfer The Production Resources Of Tank 4, As The Assault Guns 3 And 4 Were Fully Capable Of Fulfilling Their Roles. The Final Development Model Of The No. 4 Self-Propelled Anti Tank Gun Was Finalized In 1943/12 And Put Into Production In 1944/1. The Model Equipped With The Pak 39 48 Caliber Gun Was Produced Until November. The Models Equipped With Pak 42 70 Caliber Guns Began Production From August Until March And April 1945. The Original Plan Was To Halt The Production Of Tank No. 4 In Order To Focus On Producing The Self-Propelled Anti Tank Gun, But This Plan Never Materialized. The No. 4 Self-Propelled Anti Tank Gun Serves In The Anti Tank Units Of The Armored Division And Ss Armored Division. This Vehicle Has Participated In The Normandy Campaign, The Battle Of The Bulge, And Battles On The Eastern Front. This Vehicle Is A Highly Successful Self-Propelled Anti Tank Gun, But Its Performance Is Very Poor When Tactical Rules Are Ignored And Used As A Substitute For Tanks Or Assault Guns. But In The Late Stages Of The War, This Vehicle Was Often Used As A Substitute For Tanks Because There Were Often No Other Types Of Vehicles To Choose From At That Time. Overall, The Design Concept Of This Car Is Successful; After The End Of World War II, The West German Army Continued To Operate The Kanonenjagdpanzer, But Only Produced A Few Other Forms Of Fixed Mount Self-Propelled Artillery After The War.
