The Andreas Eastman model VA405 viola is a highly desired step-up instrument in appearance and sound. The VA405 is a meticulously hand-carved instrument with a premium spruce top and highly flamed maple back and sides. The superior tonal qualities of these premium tonewoods is enhanced by a hand-applied multi-layered antiqued spirit varnish that emulates the best varnishes from a small number of master workshops of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These master workshops located in Markneukirchen, Germany created a gently shaded spirit varnish that added to the appearance of depth in the tonewoods of each instrument while promoting the free, ringing sound of the viola. Cosmetic and Functionality Description

Body: the top, back, and sides have some light scuff marks and scratches as well as a few small to medium-sized dings/indentations and chips in the finish 

Neck, Headstock, and Fingerboard: the fingerboard has a some noticeable discoloration in one area at the position where it meets the body; the back of the neck looks almost flawless except for small ding right before the headstock; the front, back, and sides of the headstock have a few small, but noticeable dings and nicks as well as a few very light scuff marks

Action and Playability: the action is about medium; the bridge and the tailpiece look virtually flawless

Hardware: all looks fantastic

Includes: 16" intermediate model viola, bow, shoulder rest, and foamcore case
