DESCRIPTION

First edition.

Illustrated with eight photogravure plates and nineteen in-text images. Collated complete.

This work deals with the old gods of mythology - Odin, Thor, Tyr, Balder, and the rest - whose monuments in English are now some of the names of the days of the week, place names, and folk tales. Here the ancient myths of the Anglo-Saxons and Norse congeries of tribes are preserved and retold, with an attempt to assess the relevance of these tales to the modern day.

Written by Brian Branston, a British author, scholar, and film producer.
