Bound in the publisher's scarce blue floral cloth variant.

Illustrated with a chromolithograph frontispiece, three chromolithograph plates, and many in-text engravings with illustrations hand coloured to pages 71 and 89. Collated complete.

A very charming volume of children's songs, put to music for a piano accompaniment with sheet music throughout, including titles such as: Ah! Mon Beau Chateau, Cadet Rousselle, and Frere Jacques.

Written by Theodore Jean-Baptiste Weckerlin, a French composer and music publisher from Alsace.

Illustrated by Charles Henri Pille, a French painter and illustrator.


CONDITION

In the original blue pictorial cloth. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and board edges with the odd small mark. Light loss of the cloth to the head and tail of the spine as well as the board tips. Hinges tender. Internally, generally firmly bound with some of the text block loosening. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and age toning. A 5" tear to pages 65 to 68 resulting in some loss. Illustrations hand coloured to pages 71 and 89.
