Nick Lyons is a British freelance cartoonist, originally from Alderley Edge, Cheshire, England. He began cartooning at a young age, selling his first prints at just 14. At 18, he became a resident cartoonist for DC Thomson in Scotland, contributing to well-known British comics such as The Beano and The Dandy, along with dozens of other titles.

In his early 20s, Lyons moved to Bordeaux, France, where he worked as a freelance cartoonist for the regional newspaper Sud Ouest and created illustrations for advertising, surf, and wine-themed publications. It was during this time that he developed a playful trademark: hiding a small frog and snail in nearly all his cartoons. Later, while living in the ski resort town of Val d’Isère and along the Atlantic coast, Lyons continued producing themed prints, posters, and postcards, often inspired by skiing, surfing, and wine culture.

After about 15 years of moving between France and the UK, Lyons settled back in England, now living between London and the south coast. He continues to work as a full-time freelance cartoonist, producing commissioned illustrations for magazines, newspapers, businesses, and private clients. His distinctive ink-and-watercolour style and whimsical sense of humour remain central to his work, with the hidden frog and snail still making regular appearances.
