Sculpted Leather Paainting
We offer a sculpted dimensional painting in leather with applied turquoise stones by the Arizona artists Roger and Marie Kull. Signed and dated 1988 on the lower right corner.
The assemblage features the shards of a native American pottery jar awash on the floor of a cave with real turquoise stones spilling from its interiors. Indian pictographs are carved on the walls of the cave. A quail in flight rises against a desert landscape beyond the mouth of the cave.
Roger Kull sculpted his image from cowhide leather and Marie Kull enriched and painted with stains.
The sculpted painting is mounted on masonite board and measures 15 7/8" in width and 8" in height. The frame measures 22 3/4" in width and 14 3/4" in height.
Roger Kull is an active artist working in Arizona. He is a member of Western Artists of America and his artwork appears in permanent museum collections.
