This "Ladies of Rylstone Calendar 2000: June 2000–December 2001" is a
unique, 19-month wall calendar featuring members of the Rylstone Women’s
Institute in Yorkshire, England, who posed tastefully nude to raise
money for leukemia research. Inspired by a desire to support a friend
whose husband died from blood cancer, eleven women aged 45 to 66 took
part, using only props like baked goods, knitting, or musical
instruments to preserve modesty while humorously reimagining traditional
Women's Institute imagery. Their bold, playful approach drew worldwide
attention, inspired a stage play and a movie, and ultimately raised
millions for charity.
