Simply beautiful herbarium dried flower collage art from the mid 1860s comprised of an image of Mary surounded by several dried flowers and grasses. Dated 1865 in two places. The image of the Madonna is probably from a prayer card - it was was pasted onto the paper.
From a collection of disbound herbarium pages that were from a collection in Florence kept by a French family that summered there from 1865 through 1870. I have several others listed separately if you're interested in this type of collage work, several with religious imagery.
