This is a vintage hand carved soapstone sculpture featuring Shoushan running horses (China). The base is also made of soapstone - a heavy sculpture. Beautifully carved, an attractive item. Sadly the right leg of the rear horse has broken at some time but this is undetectable from the front. Apart from the latter, very presentable and skillfully sculpted. This sculpture deserves a place on somebody's desk or mantelpiece.
