Inner Asian frontiers of China

Author: Lattimore, Owen
Title: Inner Asian frontiers of China
Publication: London & New York: Oxford University Press, 1940

Description: 8vo, pp. xxiii, [1], 585, [3]; publisher's gray cloth; small scratch to fore-edge, text clean and sound; fine, with some toning to the dust jacket spine and wear at dust jacket head. Lattimore was born in the US but moved to China as a small child. He served as editor of Public Affairs as part of the Institute of Public Relations, and was US advisor to Chiang Kai-Shek for one and a half years. He had a strong interest in unifying theories of history, and Inner Asian frontiers of China, his most notable work, was heavily influenced by the work of Albert Toynbee. Lattimore was later accused by McCarthy of being a Soviet Agent, and while this does not appear to be the case, he did not toe the anti-communist line, and was blacklisted.
