Clementine is a stuffed dragon with a larger than life personality, a favorite toy sitting on the shelf. He demands a cave, pigs, and a "little plaid beauty" to wear and enjoys many haphazard adventures. Through it all, his little owner remains his faithful friend. This is the first of 60 children's books by the author. Her book Summer of the Swans won the Newbery Medal in 1971.
