The device was new but seems to have a power issue.

The red power LED flashed on and off five times. According to the manual, that means the battery is flat. We changed the battery for a brand new one, fresh from the packaging, and it did the same thing—five flashes. Not sure if it can be repaired.  Maybe the acceessories and case will be useful.  See photos.
