This is a set of four computer "literacy" books that were published when computer literacy was about logic and programming rather than as we think of it now. They are meant as introductory material for computer science to teach students/readers how a computer works rather than how to use a computer. The concepts and exercises are mathematical in nature. All four books are in good condition with some writing (name on title pages and numbers on covers) and shelf wear.

From the Introductory page for teachers: The Computer Literacy Series describes how information is coded, stored, and used by a computer. Teaching students to solve problems involving bits, bytes and bases promotes their understanding of how a computer works and sharpens their ability to think mathematically.

INCLUDES ANSWERS to Exercises!

Titles and descriptions follow.

1) Bits & Codes: Introduces the bit represented by 1's and 0's as the basic unit of information in a computer.

2) Bytes & Memory: Introduces the byte as the basic unit for coding. Explains RAM vs ROM and how information is transferred within different parts of the computer.

3) Bases & Computation: Introduces bases 2, 8 and 16 and has computational exercises working with these bases.

4) This is #6 in the series - More Basic: Does not require a computer to do the exercises. Introduces BASIC programming and good programming techniques such as structured and top-down design using flowcharts.

Note: All of my items come from a smoke-free home. We did have one small cat who died recently, but I did my best to keep her away from areas where I prepare items for selling. Nearly all items have been stored in closets in rooms she didn’t go into. I do my best to describe items clearly and only sell in a condition I would use myself. If I miss something, please contact me to let me know! Shipping: I try my best to provide a reasonable shipping price and do not include packaging and handling in the cost. If you end up paying more than a few cents beyond my cost for shipping, I will refund the difference. If it costs me more to ship it's on me!  About me: I am a retired teacher cleaning out my closets and working towards getting rid of anything I don't use or no longer need. Nearly everything I'm selling belonged to me or one of my family members. I’m using proceeds to help maintain the homestead where I grew up for use by me and other family members.  My goal for retirement is to downsize as much as possible so my relatives aren't left with a mess when I die!
