THE THREE POLICEMEN WILLIAM PÊNE DU BOIS 1938 YOUNG BOTTSFORD OF FARBE ISLAND HC

This former library book is in Fair condition mainly because of cover issues and bottom of spine. Cloth covered boards and a whimsical red and blue cover illustration and title are still somewhat vibrant. Cover edges are tattered but not bare. Library envelope was torn off front endpaper. There are small library stamps on endpapers and copyright page. A few stamps on inside pages at tops tell the kids “Do not turn down corners of pages.” And they didn’t. There are a few smudges and a quite small stain or two on inside pages and a gap at spine bottom. However, all pages are present, otherwise unmarked, intact and this book could be read many more times with care. I’ve photographed several pages to show defects and beautiful book as it is.

In THE 3 POLICEMEN, or, YOUNG BOTTSFORD OF FARBE ISLAND (1938), the ingenuity of 10-year-old Bottsford enables three clownish policemen of an isolated idyllic isle to catch thieves who have been stealing the islanders' fish and fishing nets.
