USE PATINA SPRAY OVER PATINA PAINT TO CREATE A BEAUTIFUL GREEN, OR RUST PATINA

Patina Spray comes in an 8oz spray or 32oz refill.

After each use, be sure to rinse out the spray nozzle thoroughly and seal the container with the cap. DO NOT store the nozzle inside the spray.

Green over bronze patina paint - produces a green patina. Green over copper also gives a green patina but the effect appears to be slightly less intense.

Green over iron patina paint - produces a rustic/brown patina

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: Clean surface with Dixie Belle White Lightning, then rinse.

STEP 2: Base Coat

If the surface is metal, apply a coat of Dixie Belle Prime Start. Prime Start contains an acid blocker that stops the rust from “eating” thru the patina paint and degrading the metal

If the surface is anything but metal, apply a base coat of regular Dixie Belle paint and let dry. Colour choice isn’t really important but you can choose a color that is complementary to the patina paint you are using.

STEP 3: Apply patina paint

Stir Well!! Patina paint is chock full of ground metal bits which will sink to the bottom. Stirring is a must!

Using your brush of choice, apply one coat of patina paint and let dry. The initial coat will be thin. That’s okay, don’t panic.

Once the first coat is dry, apply a second coat of patina paint. While the paint is still wet, continue to the next step.

STEP 4: Apply patina spray

While second coat of patina spray is still wet, apply a misting of patina spray over the paint.

Sit back and watch the magic!! It can take 2 to 6 hours to reach the full effect.

No sealing is necessary, sometimes the surface will have that “chalky” feel and the patina rubs off. To stop this, after everything is dry, run a damp rag over the surface and let dry. When you are finished, as a top coat you can use Dixie Belle Gator Hide, or no top coat at all. If you don’t top coat, it could continue to patina for a while.
