RARE Ruth Porter British Golf Champion - 7 x 1960s Competitor Pin Badges

A rare collection of 7 genuine vintage golf competitor pin badges, originally the property of the British Women’s Amateur Champion (1960, 1962 & 1964), Ruth Porter.

Included is her competitor’s name badge for the 1962 USGA Women’s Amateur Golf Championship, held at the Country Club of Rochester, New York between 27 August - 1 September, just 9 days after she had represented the United Kingdom and Ireland in the Curtis Cup tournament at Broadmoor Golf Club, Colorado (17-18 August). The badge still retains her original handwritten name card (some foxing and fading to ink, commensurate with age). Also included is her competitor’s pin badge from the 1966 World Amateur Golf Council’s Espirito Santo Trophy held at Mexico City Country Club in Mexico City, Mexico, when she captained the Great Britain & Ireland team (original name card missing). 

The other pin badges are a Ladies Golf Union International Match Fund, 2 x Ladies Golf Union handicap badges, a United States Golf Association and a USA Stars & Stripes (the latter two almost certainly obtained by her as souvenirs when competing in the United States). 

All pin badges are genuine and in good used condition. There is much information on Ruth Porter available online including a Wikipedia page. Below is a brief biography:

Ruth Porter (later Slark, 6 May 1939 – 15 September 2014) was an English amateur golfer. She had a successful junior career which included winning the 1956 Girls Amateur Championship and the 1958 British Girls' Stroke-play Championship. She won the English Women's Amateur Championship three times between 1959 and 1965, and played in the Curtis Cup in 1960, 1962 and 1964.
