Entered the mails in Concord, N.H., clerk struck pale blue 32 mm “CONCORD JAN 11 N.H.” CDS, pale blue 17x4 mm “PAID” and pale blue 12 mm “5”. Manuscript “Paid 5” at UL. Addressed to ‘Jonathan Tenney, Esq. Pittsfield, Mass.’
Cover reused in Pittsfield, MA, clerk added 3¢ #11A and black 32 mm “PITTSFIELD Mass JAN 22 PAID” CDS. Addressed to ‘Mrs. H.A. Tinney, Taunton, Mass.’ and ‘Care of Dr. Bacheld’ at LL.
Notations by Dr. Carroll Chase, he plated as 93R1L and added ‘Impression’. On reverse Chase added in his distinctive hand ‘Fine postmark’, ‘Partly wiped plate’, and ‘Also a fine turned cover.’
Excellent piece of adversity postal history.
