Offered for sale is a beautiful antique art glass VASE made by Dugan. It is made of amethyst glass with a vertical optic effect. It is textured with frit, applied while the glass was still molten, and has a spotty, silvery carnival-like sheen. The vase was mold-blown (mold seams are visible when examined carefully) and then twisted and formed by hand so no two pieces are exactly the same. This one has a cylindrical neck extending up from a blob shaped base. Dugan called this style of glass VENETIAN or POMPEIIAN. The uneven, sometimes blobby hand-formed shapes are characteristic of the Art Noveau movement that was coming into fashion when the Venetian/Pompeiian glass was introduced in 1905 or 1906.

It stands 6 3/4 inches (17.1cm) tall to rim, and measures 4 1/2 inches (11.4cm) in diameter at the widest part.  The base is 3 inches (7.6cm) and the neck is 2 3/4 inches (7.0cm) in diameter.  It is shown with a U.S. quarter in second picture, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance.  This is a magnificent antique art glass vase for your collection!

Vase is DAMAGED, with one rim chip (picture 8).  There are no cracks or scratches, and no lime scale or cloudiness in the glass.  The silvery speckled finish shows no signs of wear.
