The Poster Reads:
“A WOMAN IS OFTEN MEASURED by the things she cannot control. She is measured by the way her body curves or doesn’t curve. By where she is flat or straight or round. She is measured by 36-24-36 and inches and ages and numbers. By all the outside things that don’t ever add up to who she is on the inside. And so if a woman is to be measured, let her be measured by the things she can control, by who she is and who she is trying to become because as every woman knows, measurements are only statistics, and STATISTICS LIE.”
I have recently been informed by a long time Nike employee, who was directly involved in the Nike Poster business that these Foam Board posters were never available for Retail sale or even retail store display.  From that employee, "I don’t remember any programs where we offered foam core mounted or laminated posters for retail sale or in-store display. Nike used to mount posters on foam core and later laminated some for Nike presentations and Nike booth events.  Nike changed to lamination since it made them easier to store and ship to events."  NIKE produced a very small number of Foam-board mounted posters, when the posters were first release.  Foam-board mounted Nike posters are some of the hardest to come by. Yes, foam-board mounted posters are still excellent candidates for framing!

Nearly Impossible To Find!  In all my years collecting and selling Nike Posters, I've never seen this poster as a Foam Board before!  That is how rare this is.  This could be your only opportunity to add this amazing Nike poster to your collection . . . So Don't Miss Out!

In the early 90’s, Nike ran a series of advertisements focused on women. Janet Champ became the lead copywriter on the Nike account and provided powerful motivational text. Her copy told girls ‘You do not have to be your mother, unless she is who you want to be’, ‘There is absolutely no place to go but up’, ‘A woman can stop waiting for her stupid prince to come and go for a nice long run instead’ and the most popular of the series; 'How a women is measured. Statistics Lie' featuring Marilyn Monroe.

Instead of presenting idealistic images of beauty or traditional female roles, Nike’s copy was a call to arms to look at who you are, not who you look like. In Art & Copy (2009) Dan Wieden recalls a reaction from a woman who had torn out one of the ads from a magazine, handed it to her daughter and said ‘That’s what I was trying to tell you.'

These ads formed the basis of another Nike commercial, which features a number of girls speaking directly to the viewer about the advantages of taking part in sports: If You Let Me Play (You can search YouTube "If You Let Me Play 1995" to watch the ad.  Sorry but eBay no longer allows outside links in listings.)

As far a I know there were 4 different posters in this series.  I have included a photo of all 4 posters for visual reference only!  Only the poster in the title of the listing is being sold.

That advertisement campaign and the posters, focusing on Women Empowerment, were years ahead of their time and spoke to millions of Women.  Now you can own one if these incredible posters!
