Antique Georgian [Circa 1820] Pinchbeck Gold Flower Framed Agate Cabochon Large Brooch

This beautiful antique Georgian Brooch features an ornate Pinchbeck Flower and Leaf themed frame with a central hand cut and polished milky translucent white Agate Cabochon.

It has a Safety Chain attached (a later addition I think) and has a good, strong and extra long Steel Pin with a typical 'C' Clasp.

Pinchbeck is a form of brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, mixed in proportions so that it closely resembles gold in appearance. It was invented in the early 18th century by Christopher Pinchbeck and was extremely popular during the Georgian era.

The Brooch measures 4.7cm x 3.5cm and weighs 15.7g.
