Attention bit and Western collectible aficionados! For your consideration, a vintage Mexican Vaquero Freno bit. The shanks feature inlaid silver stripes which polish up and leave black on the cloth, but may be coin (90% vs 92.5%) silver as many older bits and spurs were built at that time utilizing it for embellishment. The bit includes an adjustable curb chain. This is an absolutely stunning vintage bit and could still be used today, although the bit would be a great piece to display in your collection. The shanks measure 8-1/2 inches long. The mouthpiece measures 4-3/4 inches wide by 5/8 inch in diameter and the purchase is 2-7/8 inches long for a 2.96 to one leverage ratio. The medium high copper roller port measures 2 inches tall by 1-1/8 inch wide. The bit weighs 1 pound 10 ounces including the curb chain.
