DESCRIPTION

The first edition.

Bound in full black calf with gilt tooling.

Comprised of the entirety of Volume I, bound with half of Volume II. Lacking the final 48 pages and nine plates to Volume II.

This highly illustrated work presents a history of interior design in London, depicting the grandeur of buildings including Buckingham Palace, St. James's Palace, Westminster Hall, the British Museum, St. Pauls Cathedral, and many more.

Illustrated with sixty-two plates, a frontispiece and an engraved title page.

Bound without the title page to Volume II.


CONDITION

Bound in full black calf with gilt tooling. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to joints and extremities. Light marking to boards. Hinges are a little strained, but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with light scattered spotting in places, including to the plates. Lacking p57-104 and nine plates to volume II.
