Because they are smooth, you can get slides and skips and end to end bounces that don't happen with the textured balls. Of course, that means you generally have less control. For some, that's what they are used to (and I've seen some bar players that had amazing control with the smooth balls). For those who are used to textured balls, you may want to try these to have a different play experience.
