DESCRIPTION

Three volumes of an original five volume set. Lacking volume III and IV.

Memoirs of the author Nathaniel Wraxall, edited with notes and additional chapters by the editor Henry B. Wheatley. His seminal work 'London Past and Present' has been established as the standard for reference works of London.

With the bookplate of John Stafford Reid Dyers to the front pastedown of each volume.

Illustrated with 11 plates across the 3 volumes present.


CONDITION

In a full cloth binding. Externally, sound. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, resulting in small tears to the cloth. Rubbing to the extremities. The odd spot to the fore edge. Volume V appears to be rebacked, with original backstrip preserved. Front and rear hinges have tape repairs. Front and rear hinges of volume II are strained. Rear hinge of volume I is strained. Binding has failed to the reverse of the front endpaper of volume I. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are generally clean, with heavy spotting to the first and last pages.
