Portfolio of heavy brown board with blue-green lettering on cover, blue-green cloth spine with gilt titling, Ex-library (non-circulating); marks on portfolio spine and on tp; presentation plate on inner surface of portfolio; no marks on plates or text pages. The set has been well-kept. 

*  Oversize portfolio of 100 beautiful photogravures(?) by Lucien Vogel depicting Moorish architecture and ornamentation, in original portfolio with fabric ties. All text is in French. A rare and beautiful complete set of plates depicting some of the most beautiful examples of Moroccan art and architecture. Plates are numbered with location and monument name.

Portfolio: Good+ Condition. 
*  Customary library markings to spine, presenation book plate to interior front cover
*  LIght scuffing and staining to boards, light edgewear (see photos).
*  Fabric ties VG, no fraying; five of six ties present, one missing.

Plates: generally VG condition
*  All one-hundred plates are present. 
*  Heavy rag paper
*  Plates are loose and unmarked.
*  About six plates have one or a few light brown spots at lower edge; photos show worst and representative examples
*  Plate XIX has extensive light staining extending into plate (see photo)

Joseph de La Nézière (1873–1944) was a French painter noted for his Orientalist artworks and for his work with the French Colonial Office developing the arts industries in colonial France. La Nézière traveled extensively in North Africa and the Far East and became a well-known Orientalist artist. He was a member of the Geographic Society. [Wikipedia]
