You will find 2 main types of Electrodes within most boilers The Flame Sensing Electrode and the Spark Electrode. A Spark Electrode utilises an electronically generated spark to ignite the fuel inside the burner and begin the combustion process. The flame is then monitored by the Flame Sensing Electrode which ensures that the flame started by the spark electrode is still present within the combustion chamber. This important safety feature stop gas from being supplied if the flame has been extinguished.
