My haunted house diorama is made from a refurbished wooden jewellery cabinet, and embellished with harlequin and skull raised stencilling.

The dresser is filled with ornaments made from jewellery beads and spacers, hand made books, a picture of creepy tweedle dee and tweedle dum, bar of Toblerone, handless clock, tiny key, bug lingering in drawer, an unopened brown paper package tied up with string, and miniature bobbin (adorned with skull bead, which holds a Shakespearean snippet typed on cotton fabric); the doors are decoupaged with tiny printable skull and cross-bones.

The scream character has been crafted from tin foil, florist wire, paper tape, and layers of gluey recycled paper before being painted and sealed with wax; he’s relaxing in his rocking chair reading a book about mindfulness. The chair cushions are hand sewn using skull fabric and stuffing.

A portrait of Edvard Munch hangs on the wall. The terracotta plant pot was decorated and filled with scrolls and dried flowers. The gravestone is made of cardboard, book page scraps, and kitchen paper to give it a pitted stone effect before finishing. A tiny wall-mounted hand has been crafted out of thin florist wire, paper tape, and kitchen paper, from which hangs the portrait of a young Munch in a piece of salvaged jewellery. There is a painted rubber rat on the floor with his face in a cherry pie (made from a glue bottle stopper, paper, paint and red seed beads). There is also a ouija board, and bespoke bunting. The carpet is a piece of hessian.

I have used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Graphite and Paris Grey and wax on the cabinet and furniture.

The drawer is lined, again with hessian, and can be used for jewellery and creepy keepsakes.

This is a statement piece of assemblage art, and has taken many hours to create all the elements - it would make a thoughtful horror gift (or deserved treat for yourself) for the individual who likes the unusual and an alternative to factory-produced pieces.
