Spectacularly, on this day Ivan Lendl would CRUSH Jimmy Connors 6-0, 6-0 in a double bagel defeat! This was something that had been unseen for Connors, the American legend. John McEnroe would win his day also, defeating Jimmy Arias. McEnroe would go on to win the tournament on the following day by besting Lendl in the final match.
