Medal No. 22 – Healing of Na'aman in the Jordan River

Na'aman the General of the King of Aram was sick with leprosy. A young girl, a servant of his wife, told Na'aman that Elisha the Prophet of Israel would be able to cure him. Since the Kingdoms of Israel and Aram were enemies, Na'aman had to request special permission from his King to go to Elisha. With a letter from the King and laden with gifts, he was sent not to the prophet but to the King of Israel. At his approach, the King of Israel suspected that his intention was to open war against him. The Prophet Elisha heard of Na'aman's arrival and sent his servant Gehazi to tell him to bathe seven times in the Jordan River. Na'aman was angered by this, not being able to understand why the Rivers of Damascus were no better than the Rivers of Israel. In the end, he agreed and bathed seven times in the Jordan River. Immediately, his flesh was healed. He returned to Elisha, praising the G-d of Israel.
